Now and then Doubloon Tours ventures a bit farther from home in search of the roots of our unique culture.
In June 2020 Doubloon Tours will set sail for the heart of Burgundy, that scenic, wine-rich region in east-central France. With its picturesque villages, grand abbeys and châteaux, famed local products, and renown cultural heritage, Burgundy is a must-see region of France. We will stay in the regional capital of Dijon and visit local sites of interest, including medieval Beaune, the abbeys of Vezelay, Fontenay, and Cluny; and the historical battlefield of Alésia where the Romans defeated the Gauls and consolidated their power over the region. Join us as we taste the many delicious flavors of the local cuisine, such as boeuf bourgignon, moutarde de Dijon, escargot, coq au vin, gougères, and the famous Époisse cheese. We'll visit wineries and sample the famous pinot noir and chardonnay wines of the region, with appelations including Cotes de Beaune, Cote de Nuits, and Nuits-Saint-Georges. So much to discover!
The trip price of $4,500 includes: round trip airfare from New Orleans to Dijon (ground transportation from Lyon airport), all program-related travel, guided tours, tastings, and visits throughout the region; ten nights in a 4-star hotel in Dijon, with breakfast included; an arrival and a farewell dinner in Dijon, and more.....
